Know how to present African-American history

You will see the primary sources of history and how to avoid stereotyping and controversy by applying the best standards of historical accuracy and research while including the pertinent and fascinating voices of African-American writers, speakers and institutions, who insisted on pleading their own cause.

Already settled

The victory of African-Americans to achieve three Constitutional Amendments is the most inspiring narrative in history, causing the delivery of the Statue of Liberty and setting the foundation for modern America.  See how this improbable success is the template for resolving current challenges and for energizing the talents of today's students to reach similar heights.

ABOUT john
John William Templeton was the first person in line at the 150th anniversary showing of the Emancipation Proclamation, described by the Washington Post as "knowing everything there is to know about the document."  The Howard University alumnus embarked on a research project to find the resolutions by every state which approved the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments.   The result is a trilogy of books:
  • We Fought, We Vote: 150th anniversary of the 15th Amendment
  • Citizenship for All: 150th anniversary of the 14th Amendment
  • Road to Ratiication: How 27 States Faced the Most Challenging Issue in American History
Among his 65 books are Grampa Jack's Secret, which traces his family back to 14th century Mali.  The Amiru Songhoy, direct descendent of Askia Muhammad, designated him history advisor, or wanadu aroo for the Songhoy People, from which 75 percent of today's African-Americans are descended.
