Map the African-American Freedom Trail July 20-27, 2015
WURD900AM from Philadelphia enjoyed the African-American Freedom Trail over the Memorial Day weekend led by General Manager Sarah Lomax Reese.
The California African-American Freedom Trail will cover all 58 counties in the Golden State in legislation being drafted for the Assembly to add a heritage corridor to the Resources Code. Following the support of the State Historical Resources Commission and Legislative Black Caucus, we are undertaking the work of actually plotting the sites for the Trail.
Be part of the expedition and have a wonderful vacation/learning experience July 20-27 as John William Templeton, editor of Our Roots Run Deep: the Black Experience in California, Vols. 1-4, leads a trip from Beckwourth Peak in the Sierra through the Sacramento Delta to the East Bay to the shores of San Francisco across the Central Valley and Imperial Empire to San Diego, and Los Angeles.
At every location, you'll be amazed by the hidden history and the heroic exploits which have gone unappreciated. Tour price is competitive with vacation tours at $3,500 including lodging and transportation for seven nights. Tour activities will be filmed for distribution to schools on ReUNION: Education-Arts-Heritage. If you can not come, support the work of preserving the history by purchasing books at californiablackhistory.com
